After trying on thousands of wedding dresses from thousands of American stores, my best friend was convinced that she was going to have to jet set off to Europe to find a fashionable wedding dress. It turned out that she was right. Not only did she find the dress of her dreams but countless other women are making the same journey in the hopes of finding that one special dress for their one special day.
Shopping for a wedding dress overseas may sound crazy to some, but for many that is exactly what they are doing. In my friends case, she is slightly more fashion forward than what the runways of American had to offer. To her it was worth the time and money to fly to Europe to pick out her perfect dress.
Not only were the dresses that she found there more fashion forward but she was also able to get a more personal experience working with the designer. It is very rare in America that the designer is available for consult when dealing with their dresses. In America we tend to have a more stock-pile, large store mentality which can seem impersonal and cold, especially if you are talking about the most important dress you will ever wear. My friend gushed about the little stores that she met with in Europe. Not little because they were not well known, but little in size and service. She said that she was able to speak directly with the designers, something she had never done in her home country. For her, traveling thousands of miles for a dress was more than worth it.
